We will wait at the International Airport Jorge Chavez in Lima and be transferred to your hotel. You will spend the night here.

* Please note that if there is a delay in your flight resulting in a longer waiting time at the airport for your transportation to the hotel. A fee will be applied for that additional waiting time.

After breakfast, our transfer will pick you up from the hotel and take you to Jorge Chavez International Airport. Once you are there, we will take the flight Lima to Cusco. When we arrive, we will welcome to the Imperial City of Cusco with a warm coca tea, a medical plant from the Andes that helps with the Soroche (altitude sickness) and we will transfer to your hotel. After a rest and a light lunch, we will begin our City Tour Cusco. We will visit six impressive places; 2 of them in the city itself: the Cathedral and Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun) and the other 4, surrounding the city of Cusco; these are the archaeological sites of Sacsayhuaman, Qüenco, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. By observing these wonders, you run out of breath!

At the end of this long day, we have a rest; therefore, we will transfer you to your hotel to rest peacefully.

In the morning, after taking a revitalizing breakfast, your guide will pick you up at your hotel to start your tour to Sacred Valley. There, you can see the beautiful landscape with corn and potatoes and a whole variety of colors ranging from green mountains to deep red in their clay. Also, you will visit the Pisac Market with handicrafts and traditional Fair. Subsequently, we are passing through the capital of this valley, Urubamba; where we can do some shopping. Then we drive to Ollantaytambo. A beautiful city with huge terraces and a unique charm that only this city can offer.

On the way back to Cusco, we stop at the village of Chinchero, famous for textiles and owns the chapel. Hence, we can do some shopping before returning to Cusco. Finally, we'll leave it at your hotel to take a rest.

Today, you will walk in his briefing offices Wayki Trek. After that, we will start one of the most memorable experiences you can live in your trip to Cusco: the Wayki Experience.

The Wayki Experience, is an experiential tour that allows our clients to meet and live day to day in the community of porters. You will learn their habits and have the opportunity to work with them in their daily work. Also, you will share with them a typical local food and spend the night under the starry sky of the Peruvian highlands. The next day we leave to our walk.

After breakfast we leave the hotel in Cusco, together with the tour guide on a private van towards the starting point of our trek on Km 82, Piscacucho.  On arrival we will go through the control point of the Inca trail and then proceed with the trek.  We will start at 2400 m.a.s.l. and will ascend slowly toward the archeological ruins called Llactapata (2650 m.a.s.l.) where we will arrive after 2 hours of trekking time.  Here we will explore the ruins and have lunch at the base of the ruins afterwards.  Later we will continue our route to the semitropical valley of Wayllabamba and 2 hours after we will arrive to the archeological site of Wayllabamba; we will explore the site as well and set up our first campsite around the area.  Dinner will be served and we will spend the night there.

CERTIFICATION ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004

It is important for Wayki Trek to provide excellent service to our passengers, to fulfill your expectations, and to participate in the conservation of our environment.  It is because of these three reasons and to guarantee the continuous application of this philosophy that we have obtained two of the most important certifications in our field: ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004.  With them we guarantee the service that our passengers expect from us and the conservation of the environment with each steps of our processes.

WAYKI TREK offers to their passengers the best alternative to be able to experience the real tourism; which is through the “Wayki Experience”.  Through this program our passengers will live one day at Wayki Community where they can participate in agricultural or livestock activities; they will also share local food and the daily lives of children who assist  this community.  All of these activities will enrich your knowledge of our culture and will make your trip unforgettable!

Thanks to “Wayki Experience” and other social work done by WAYKI TREK, many rural communities have seen a contribution to their development.

In an effort to provide a more personalized service to our passengers.  We at WAYKI TREK have a policy that our groups will not exceed 8 people.  This fact alone sets us apart from other companies that operate departures with bigger groups.

Wayki Trek believes, it is a priority to help and assist in the development of local Andean communities.  That is why we are actively collaborating to eradicate problems like the loss of self-identity, lack of basic services, low education levels, little economic development, and migration to big cities due to extreme poverty.  In an effort to reverse this, Wayki Trek has implemented projects that help to minimize the impact of these problems in the communities.  The construction of a Medical Clinic and a rural Library are examples of that effort.

The availability of the Peru 12D is linked to the spaces for the Inca Trail, which is a reserve area that only allows the daily entrance of 500 persons as maximum (including hikers, all working as porters, cooks, and guides).  You should reserve your place as soon as possible. Sometimes the treks are booked at least 6 months in advance or more.  Also, note that from May to September the permits are highly requested and spaces sell out quickly.  To book the Peru 12D, we need your personal information which will be sent to the regulatory office.

At Wayki Trek, we are known for having small groups in our trekking services.  For this reason, the trek that is included in Peru 12D package, in a shared/ group service, always keeps a standard between 2-8 people per group.  We always handle this range to provide personalized service to our customers.

Medical Considerations

If you have medical restrictions for some or all the activities detailed in your booking, please contact your doctor and inquire about the risks of doing said activities.

Altitude Sickness (Soroche) and Stomach Pain

For those trekkers that come to Cusco directly from places at sea level; we recommend to arrive 2-3 days before your trek.  Two of the most common health issues among tourists in Cusco are: The Altitude Sickness (Soroche) and stomach pain provoked by slow digestion.

Altitude Sickness; some of the symptoms are: headache and nausea.  There are some over the counter medications (pills) that help to minimize the symptoms of this problem, such as Glucosa Coramina, Aspirina, Diamox, Soroichi Pill, and Acetazolamida among others.  If the symptoms persist, the use of oxygen is the next step.  Under these circmstances, we have the equipment and staff ready to assist our trekkers.

Stomach Pain; It is recommended to drink between 3-4 liters of water per day.  Your body will need this to stay hydrated.  It is especially recommended to drink hot drinks like coca leaf tea.  Also recommended are, soups, vegetables, and carbohydrates (not fried or heavy).  Candy, chocolates, cookies, and fruits are also a good option. In general, all food that is easy to digest. Do not drink alcohol or smoke.

Try to sleep at least 8 hours and do not exercise too much.  Keep your body in good temperature wearing warm clothes to protect yourself from the cold.  During the adjustment to the altitude there is a general rule to follow: eat what is necessary and drink plenty of liquids.

Health restrictions and medication

It is very important that passengers (before making the trip) tell their sales consultant about any medical restrictions, allergies, special diet, medications you are taking, health problems, or any item that has to be taken into account in order to make your journey much more pleasant and to have no concerns.

Take only whatever it is necessary for the trek and leave the rest at the hotel.
